Process - Blend & Fermentation

leaves are withered, reducing moisture levels to 42% - 45%, converts catechins into theaflavins and thearubigins, locks in and enhances the natural flavour, it strengthens the character and benefits too. The leaves are then separated into leaf grade, broken grade, fannings grade and dust grade using electrostatically charged rollers made using mesh screens of various sizes.

Quality

The quality is tested by our Clifton Tea Tasters who appraise the strength, flavour, aroma and colour of our Sugar Control wellness tea. Kotalahimbutu (Salacia Reticulata) is a herb native to Sri Lanka and it’s stem and root are used as medical remedies. Used as an Ayurvedic diabetic controller in tea form as it decreases insulin levels, this herb is also used as treatment for gonorrhea, asthma, joint pain, obesity and menstrual aches.

 

Taste and Wellness 

These ingredients have been trusted and used by Ayurvedic experts in ancient remedies and continue to aid in controlling diabetes and other health complications. This vegan and gluten-free Ayurvedic blend’s ingredients hold properties that have numerous benefits and have been widely used in Sri Lanka since ancient times.

The leaves, flowers and stalks of Wel Penela (Cardiospermum Halicacabum) are commonly used to treat dysentery, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain and hernia as it is native to Sri Lanka and can be found easily.

 

Additionally, it is known as an effective aphrodisiac. Another beneficial and native herb included in this blend is Ranawara (Cassia Auriculata). Its flowers, bark, leaves and fruit are used to treat not only diabetes but as a remedy for various skin diseases, rheumatism, constipation, liver disease and urinary tract diseases.
